We’re a little late for Earth Day, but we had to post this picture JFK drew as a young boy. Found in Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy’s personal papers, this image features a tree on a hill with the words “Plant a tree” at the bottom. JFK’s childhood signature is scribbled on the back.
The Histomap by John Sparks, 1931, depicts the ebb and flow of world powers from antiquity to today, part of a visual history of the timeline.
Obviously we need this right now. Even better if it were offered in fruit-roll-up form.

A 19th century map of Hyde Park in London. On a Sunday during the Season fashionable families would take walks through the park in order to be seen in their finest outfits. On these occasions the area of the park they were allowed to walk in was strictly determined by social standing. In compliance with an unspoken code of conduct many were confined to the South East lawns of the park or just beyond the Achilles statue.
Though more of us than ever before live a life of luxury and ease, fewer of us can claim that our lives are permeated with peace and joy. The frantic, stressful striving going on all around us indicates that we are profoundly lost. We seem unable to ask with any seriousness or depth the question…
